I practice CBH, but some of the CBT approaches are outdated. We talk about ‘irrational beliefs or thoughts about how we are seen by the world and how we see ourselves This is deeply invalidating, and sometimes for the neurodiverse they can be closer to the truth than we would like. I work in the way that we have been hwo we have to be and done what we have needed to do to survive in a difficult world. If those those no longer suit who you are or who you want to be then we can work on getting to a happier place, moving away from our unhelpful way of being towards a more authentic and more peaceful way of being

I chose caravel as the name as it is an explorers ship. We are moving away from the idea of ‘being mentally ill’ to one of reacting to the suffering we endure. So our healing is more of a personal journey of self discovery and curiosity on wide open horizons

Why did you become a therapist?

I’ve been there and come through and now my life is full and rich.I like to help other people on their journeys. This area is important to me as I am late life diagnosed ADHD and Autism, so I get it I’ve worked in mental health for 14+ years in a variety of settings, front line support, education and research.

I chose to become a therapist because I want to work with people directly, bringing all my experience with me (I would also like a space to put all the logos of the organisations I have worked for in – there is a lot so it’ll look good as a little collage)

What do you want a nervous first-time visitor to know?

I create a safe, warm and validating environment as I learn about you, how you experience the world and where you are at. I remember how scary a prospect it can be to look for help and so I build that into my work. They may have received a lot of judgement, there is none here.
